Welcome to TwoCatsAtHome.com! I am dedicating this website to my cats Patches and Lucky (seen above in the header image). Patches and Lucky are 9 years old and have been with me since they were kittens. Patches is a calico and Lucky is a siamese mix. Here you will find information about cats including things I have learned along the way.

Patches (Feb. 1997 - Jul 2008) - She is officially my first cat ever and I remember the day I got her like it was yesterday. I had gone shopping with my friend and as we were leaving the store I saw these two young girls holding her. She was the only kitten they had and so I asked my friend to ask if they were giving her away. When they told us that they were, my friend asked to hold her and then she handed her to me. The minute I picked her up and looked at her big round eyes I was hooked. I just said okay to the girls and walked off with her, never looking back. She was only about 10-12 weeks old. I named her Patches, guess I couldn't think of a more suitable name at the time. Ever since she was a kitten she has affectionately licked and nipped my nose. She is a very precious cat. Her favorite human food is ice cream, she loves ping pong balls, and loves cat nip as well. Our beautiful sweet precious baby girl passed from complications due to cancer and kidney failure. We will never forget her, she will always be in our hearts.

Lucky (born Mar. 1997) - I got him not too long after I got Patches. His name is a perfect fit for him because he really has been one lucky cat. I found him at the pound. He was small, had big paws and big ears. I didn't know it at the time that he was a Siamese mix. I fell in love with him that day and adopted him. The second day he was home with me he had to be rushed to the vet. Apparently he had not fully finished developing and so dry food was not going through his system very well. So he was put on special food for a month or so. He was doing very well until the next hurtle came along. When I took him to get fixed they noticed that only one of his testicles had dropped. So I had to wait for about 6 weeks to see if it would correct itself but it didn't. He had to have surgery because if not removed it could become cancerous. They found it buried beside his kidney and had a really long incision. For the most part he has been a pretty healthy cat since then and has all the cat personality traits of a Siamese. He loves people, mewing all the time, the scratch post, furry mice, and bananas.

07.03.08 - Our cats are our babies...our life. We lost our baby girl and it was the hardest thing I have ever been through. Remember to cherish your cats, your pets, and show them love every day. There are some great yahoo groups that have helped me through a lot of Patches medical issues and beyond. I hope you take care of yourself and your precious babies.

02.10.08 - Our cats are spoiled but I think they deserve it. We just recently bought them a 26 inch wide slumber ball which turned out to be a very comfortable bed for them to sink into. Patches just loves it and recently Lucky decided to try it out as well. I hope they don't fight over it or we will have to get another one.

02.02.08 - Patches had her vet appointment today and it's good news. She has put some weight back on and the vet said her heart as well as her kidney, bladder, and etc appears to be good. The most difficult thing for CRF cats is getting them to eat and eat well. So far we have been able to consistently get her to eat 1 can of food a day which is the most she has in a long time. So we are happy she is doing so well and hope she is with us for many more years.

12.31.07 - In 2006, I had written in my blog that Patches went on a hunger strike. Well it turned out that there was more wrong than we realized. She was diagnosed with CRF in January of this year. She has been doing okay but lost some weight and has now been put on blood pressure medication. Anyone interested in knowing more about CRF should visit this website: http://www.felinecrf.org/
